FREE SCHOOL RESOURCE

Before It Becomes a Whole Thing

A practical body-clues poster for pupils aged 10–13

Sometimes the body gets there before the words do.

A jaw feels tight. Shoulders creep up. The stomach feels off. Everything starts getting on your nerves.

This free I Am Well poster helps pupils notice when pressure is beginning to build and choose one practical thing to try before it takes over.

It does not tell children to calm down.

Calm all the time is not the goal. Noticing earlier gives them more choice about what happens next.

WHAT DOES THIS RESOURCE DEVELOP?

This resource helps pupils build body awareness, emotional literacy and practical self-regulation. It encourages them to notice their early signs, choose something that may help and ask for support before things become overwhelming.

It also gives staff and pupils a simple, shared language for talking about what is happening—without requiring anyone to disclose something personal.

This resource is free to print and use within your school or organisation. Please keep the I Am Well branding in place and do not alter, sell or present the resource as your own.

THREE QUESTIONS FOR TUTOR TIME

Give pupils a few minutes to look at the poster, then ask:

  1. Which clue might you notice first?

  2. Which one thing could you try?

  3. Who could you ask for a minute in this school?

There is no pressure to share personal experiences. The aim is to make noticing, choosing and asking for support feel normal.

Where can it be used?

The poster can be used in:

  • Tutor and form time

  • PSHE and transition sessions

  • Classrooms

  • Pastoral, SEND and wellbeing spaces

  • One-to-one support

Print it at A4 for individual use or enlarge it to A3 for display.

BRING THIS WORK INTO YOUR SCHOOL

A poster can introduce the language. A facilitated session gives pupils the opportunity to explore it, practise the tools and recognise what helps them.

I Am Well provides practical wellbeing workshops for pupils, staff sessions and support for parents and carers.
